Nikki Lake graduated with a Bachelor of Film and Television from Bond University in 2007. During her time at university, she worked as writer/director on a number of film projects including Polaroids of Androids (2007) and Dancing With Strangers (2007).
It is through her desire to capture personal, honest and beautiful moments outside of the moving image, that an interest in photography has emerged, especially in regards to cameras and film of the pre-digital era.
In her first combined photography and film installation, “in places, empty spaces”, Nikki uses polaroid cameras to capture candid and aesthetically satisfying moments of intimacy between the people around her.
Nikki currently spends her time working for Brisbane-based production company Hoodlum, while also focusing on her own screenwriting and photographic projects.
