Running Guns

Their music is honest, frank, direct and irresistibly beat-driven. They seek to differ themselves from the myriad other Brisbane indie bands and play without egos or attitudes. Together they have worked harder than most to create a unique sound that is entirely their own and it is their passion, determination, raw talent and individuality that truly sets them apart. Running Guns will play anywhere, anytime to anybody who will give them space to put their equipment.

In the short year since Running Guns began performing they have reached some unique milestones. They have played endless shows at Brisbane live music venues including Rics Bar, The Troubadour, Valley Studios, Verve Café, The Step Inn, Little jumbo, The Music Kafe, Tongue and Groove as well as a number of house parties. They have also recorded and independently released two CDs, the “Bang On” Single in November 2008 and the Plastic Sunshine EP in June this year. Events of note include performing live on Canadian radio as part of Rob Michael’s morning show on 104.9 Mountain FM; taking part in the Brisbane Twestival, a Twitter organised festival to raise funds for ‘charity:water’, an agency that aids the provision of clean drinking water to people in developing countries; travelling south to the cold streets of Melbourne in May to play at The Laundry in Fitzroy and perform at parties in Coburg; and in June this year supporting Australian music icon, Quan Yeomans of Regurgitator, when he kicked off his solo tour in Brisbane. Their song “Bang On” was included in a special bonus CD as part of the launch of Brisbane’s fashion cult Turpentine’s magazine and they also have recently completed recording their debut album with the help of Mt. Augustus man, Cameron Smith.
