Tara Heard

– Performance, Saturday 14th November 2009

Standing in a sea of alphabet, she looks around. Language has lost its place and one girl is going to figure out how to make sense of it all again. On a personal journey to rediscover her father, she forms an unlikely bond with a band of struggling musicians. A great friendship ensues and she finds words in a mush of letters. She finds emotions and gives them words. Tracking the journey of how the incidental descriptors are formed, she makes sense of a verbose experience through minimal action.

The performance navigates through silence, movement, song, stillness and dialogue to find farce, humour and situational comedy. Using traditional acting methods as well as song, dance, physical theatre and a contemporary aesthetic, Alphabet Soup provides a cross-section and collaboration of styles and forms to engage an audience in a unique performance world.

Countless characters emerge from the passionate and exhausting performance machine that is Tara Heard as Alphabet Soup erupts onto the stage. Not your traditional one-woman show, this is one that requires engagement, imagination and some old-fashioned fun.
