Theatre is important, it can create change, and should inspire. This is Wagtail’s creative ambition.
Coming into formation in early 2009, Wagtail Studios has resolved to make theatre that is innovative, provocative and challenging, while being easily accessible to modern audiences and resisting the notion that art is a hub that exists only for itself. Consisting of only 10 members, and led by artistic directors Daniel Gough and Chrissie Bernasconi, Wagtail Studios commissions its artists to write, direct, perform and devise, taking on diverse roles as new and exciting ideas come into fruition. As an exciting and new theatre company, we cannot wait to begin bringing theatre, live art and installation to the people of Brisbane.
Three bodies.
One room.
A new game to play.
The deaf, the dumb and the blind will soon face-off.
Malum As an adjective, the word means “Evil,” but as a noun, it means “Apple.” The significance of the word reveals itself as this graceful and intimidating work winds it’s way through a story of deception. Here created are new languages and simple images that simmer beneath a layer of malice and ill intent. Performed and created by Daniel Gough, Laura Kwaitkowski and Simon Wood, this work will introduce you to the world Malum.
Just remember- it’s a game.
